Launch of Pocket OpeRA
The launch of the augmented reality operas created as part of the Pocket OpeRA research-creation project will take place on Friday, September 11, from 2 to 6 p.m. at PHI Centre.
Pocket OpeRA brings together music, cinema, scenography, and new technologies, and has led to the creation of five operas, each approximately 15 minutes long.
Led by University of Montreal professors Ana Sokolović (composition), Olivier Asselin (cinema), and Marie-Josèphe Vallée (scenography), the project explores new forms of operatic creation through augmented reality. It is part of the Canada Research Chair in Opera Creation, held by Ana Sokolović.
At this launch event at PHI Centre, the public will have the opportunity to discover all five works, meet the creative teams, and get a behind-the-scenes look at several years of research and development.
